Eee oop! An introduction.

Good day to you out there in Cyberspace!

Yes, it's me, your good buddy Chard.  I know I've been threatening to do this for a while, but here it finally is.  My Yorkshire Blog!

For those of you unfamiliar with my work, I am a born and bred West Countryman, hailing from God's Own City and County of Bristol.  Seduced by the bright lights and prospect of streets paved with gold, I moved to London back in 2003.  I ended up staying for seven whole years, making many good friends along the way.
In a romantic twist of fate, I bumped into a girl I had first met ten years previously, whilst on hockey tour in East Yorkshire.  After many evenings spent on Facebook Messenger we finally agreed to meet up and from that point onwards, this girl literally turned my world upside down.
After a good nine months of taking it in turns to travel the 240 miles to and from our respective homes, something had to give.  So I ended up leaving my job and leaving behind the hustle-bustle of the Big Smoke to move to a town of 33,000 people by the sea:  Bridlington.

It is a beautiful part of the world and I can absolutely, categorically, state I love every aspect of my new home.  The sense of space.  The bizarre micro-climate (meaning Brid can be warm and sunny, but just two miles inland it can be wet and grey).  Commuting that involves dodging tractors as opposed to dodging people.  The sea.  The solitude.  The silence (well, sometimes).
It is quite literally awesome (which is something us Southerners only say apparently!).

So for those of you who don't live in Brid or even East Yorkshire, this should give you some insight or perhaps a sneaky snapshot of my life up here.  Hopefully it might make you chuckle sometimes or failing that, make you shake your head sadly.

Enjoy!
