A Moving Experience

34
Last weekend we finally moved into our new home. After a few weeks impatiently kicking our feet about in our old pad we now feel happy and settled. Although we almost hit a bit of a snag...

The removal firm rang us on the day of the big move to tell us they would be unable to come as a sickness bug had meant some of the team were off ill. Not the best thing to hear when I had taken the day off work especially, but these things cannot be helped. So we decided to move everything we could and get the new house in a ready state.
Most importantly - TV plugged in and working!

As always with house moves, we suddenly found belongings we never even knew we had. Long forgotten kids' toys magically reappeared, along with musical instruments (including a tin whistle and a harmonica), all manner of books, toiletries and paraphernalia from long abandoned hobbies. So, after multiple trips between the two houses we called it a day.

Thankfully, the Removal Firm called on Saturday morning, to say they were able to come around mid morning, and - luckily - my hockey match had been called off, so I was free to help with proceedings.

As it was, the removal firm were extremely efficient and had our possessions moved quickly and carefully. Even our Eldest's trampoline, which I thought was going to be a major logistical challenge, was moved with apparent ease!

Slowly getting there!
We are very lucky to have some family friends who could help with the odd jobs around the home, including setting up our Sky connection. So by Saturday evening, the house was feeling very much more like home.

As I write, the boxes dotting the house have become smaller in number (thanks to C - I can't take credit for that!), curtains and shelves have been put up and the whole place now feels very warm and cosy.

My contribution? I fitted a towel hook to the airing cupboard. You may scoff - but it means nice warm towels in the morning.
