A happy and prosperous new year to you all! Despite me being horribly ill over the whole Christmas Period, we still had a thoroughly enjoyable time with both sets of folk in Yorkshire and the West Country. Both kids got mountains of presents and got to play with their cousins, generally having the time of their lives! Since my last post I have finally become a homeowner - the most grown up thing I could ever imagine myself doing. After leaving home at the age of 23, I've had so many different addresses it is hard to keep count! But finally, we have a home we can rightfully claim to be our own. Of course, there have been a number of jobs we've needed to do to prep the house for our arrival. The outgoing owners didn't have kids so the house has a very grown up feel to it. Really nice for us, but not so great for our two. So C and I were introduced to the art of wall paper hanging for the first time in our lives! After a few pointers from a friend, we started to (quite literally) get the hang of it! With C cutting the paper down to size and pasting, and yours truly hanging, cutting borders and brushing the air bubbles out. I ran into a little difficulty whilst trying to finish the job off - finding that the final piece I cut didn't have the matching pattern. But thankfully there was just enough left to correct the issue.
As you can see, we went for a bit of a retro design for our eldest's room. He is at that difficult age where superheroes or childish looking wallpaper will soon look a bit out of place, so we thought this was a nice touch. Thankfully, he loved his new bedroom as soon as he saw it. We decided just to paint our youngest's room in neutral white for the time being, until we can decide what we want to do with it. Once the furniture and all her decorations are up, we felt it would do for now. So the big move is this Friday. To be honest, I can't wait!
