As we have only just moved into our new home, I started to have a look around and realised just how eclectic our collection of furniture, accessories and decorations actually is!
The furniture itself is a mish-mash. Mainly C's stuff, a few odds and ends from my old London days and a few new pieces.
We decided not to redocorate the living room/dining area as the wallpaper, which was put up by the former occupants, looks perfectly acceptable for the time being. In time, we will put our own stamp on it, but it's not something we need to address right now.
The extension at the rear was decorated in a similar style to the living room and would also be perfectly acceptable, were it not for the fact that it is now the kid's playroom. So we will re-wallpaper this as soon as possible - although I have a feeling it may still be in the same state this time next month!
So here are some snapshots from our open plan downstairs area:
As we live at the seaside, it is only natural we should have some reminders of this around the home. C picked up this calendar and I love the beach huts in the snow. We get to see a beach resort all year round, whereas most people only see it in the summer, so it is a nice little link to our hometown.
Over in the Kid's playroom, C ordered these storage chairs from IKEA. They probably have some unpronouncable Swedish name, but they are quite cute and are a good place to stow away toys.
We also found this rather funky seaside-themed wallpaper. We are planning on putting this up in the kid's playroom. We didn't really want to go too babyish as it is still an extended part of the living area, but we felt it held enough appeal for the kids and contained a nice array of colours, amongst all the line cartoons.
This Love Heart Tree was given to us as a wedding present and sat quite forlornly in our old kitchen, as there was no real place to put it. Thankfully, it can now take pride of place next to the red blind in our new kitchen. I am frankly amazed it still has so many "leaves" left!
The piece de resistance! C spotted this sign in a craft shop in York and absolutely loved it. She then saw it in another craft shop in Whitby, so we simply had to have it! Much like the "This is Anfield" sign at Liverpool, this gives you a bit of a welcome to the Kid's Playroom and kind of gives you warning of what to expect as you step over the threshold into the madness! You can also see the outgoing wallpaper, in all its flowery glory!
