Goals & Shoals

It was certainly a weekend of mixed emotions in our household!

First off there was joy as C travelled all the way to West Yorkshire Yorkshire with Brid Ladies Hockey Club and finally got on the scoresheet! Her first goal this season in a 2-0 win, taking them to the top of their division.

On the down side, our youngest had been a bit under-the-weather over the past couple of days. After seemingly perking up a bit, she definitely wasn’t her usual self on Saturday morning. After eating a few mouthfuls of food she then vomited all over the both of us! Poor thing! My mother-in-law came over, sorted her out and took her down to their house. She definitely perked up once she saw her Grandma!

In hockey, seemingly blew our chances of promotion with a 2-2 draw at home to Boston Spa. Annoyingly, we had beaten the same side 8-0 at their spot earlier in the season, but this time around we looked lethargic. In all fairness, Boston Spa looked a much more organised team and really frustrated us, but two goals from their only two attempts tells a sorry tale. We now have to pick ourselves up and ensure we win our remaining three matches, or it could be a real anticlimactic end to the season.

Thankfully, by the time I’d got home, our youngest was feeling a lot better, so we were able to press ahead with our plans to go to the Sealife Centre in Scarborough on Sunday.

I’m sure most families have been to at least one Sealife Centre, as there are others in Birmingham, Hull and London. The one in Scarborough is a nice size and right by the sea itself. Our youngest was enthralled by the rays (although I have always found them a little creepy) and loved being able to run around a bit. Our eldest was just massively excited and loved collecting stamps for the passbook he was given.

With all three of my passengers absolutely exhausted and asleep I treated us all (well just me) to the scenic route home around Buckton & Bempton.
